This
12 minute 38 second special feature on Haley Joel
Osment looks back at what Tim McCanlies calls Haley's
" impressive body of work" . Featuring interviews
with Haley Joel Osment himself and Tim McCanlies,
this fascinating short feature reveals how mature
and professional Haley is as an actor.
As
Tim McCanlies himself says , " Haley is not
just a kid who's been in a couple of hit movies .....
He's an actor , a real actor's actor . "

Charming,
intelligent, articulate, always respectful and generous
in his praise for his father, his director and his
fellow actors, Robert Duvall and Michael Caine, it's
obvious from this special feature that Haley Joel
Osment is the consumnate professional , but more important
than all that , he is unspoilt in spite of his fame
and achievements as an actor , and is genuinely a
good person.
As
he himself says, " You've got to keep your
record clean , because it's your responsibility to
anyone who's ever to watch your film. It's something
you sign on to when you work on a film , when you
get into this business , that is something you take
with the acting , the responsibility of a life outside
of that, so I guess that, it's a little more pressure,
but its good pressure, its motivation to do good things
.... not that I wouldn't anyway..."

"Walter's
transition in this story is really important to me
as an actor and as a person ... " says Haley
, " because as a person, I am growing up and
I am going through a big transition in age, and being
a teenager now, these changes happen very rapidly.
"

"Walter's
transition in this film , his fundamental aging, from
a pathetic boy to growing up to being a man... all
of that is really important to me
because it starts a new chapter in acting and it begins
a phase where I will be doing more mature roles. "

Having
worked with and gotten to know what drives Haley Joel
Osment , Tim McCanlies was confident Haley's future
in films was bright. " Because he is very
smart, because he's picked the right roles and will
continue to do that, whether he ends up directing
or being an actor , or both, in the future.... he
is so smart and so together, that I don't really see
him falling by the wayside like so many of these young
stars do . "

Ending
the interview, Haley's sincerity was evident when
he said , " One of the things my dad has always
taught me in the 11 years that I have been acting,
is that the work is the reward.... and acting is one
of the few things that you can do, that the work itself
is what is enjoyable . The best part about it is that
the work itself is the reward. It really is a phenomenon
, and it's what makes acting so unique and enjoyable
and so different from anything else you can do.....
and I really felt that on Secondhand Lions. "
