I will wait VERY patiently. Anything for this movie is basically worth it; even if you have to wait. _________________ †Still standing behind you, Haley. Hang tough. You'll be all the stronger for it. My support for you will never wither away†...

Wow, thanks Daniel, even though I am not thát excited about HOTG anymore, I really liked the interview. I appreciate the work you (and Rusty) must have had to do to get this done. Thanks very much!!
One question though: Why do you always add an extra space between the last word and the comma's? It sort of breaks up the sentence structure and makes it a tiny bit uneasy to read. I really don't want to exaggerate, but it just occured to me, and I was wondering wether you have a specific reason you do that. _________________

Thanks for the feedback, Mc .... does it really make it uneasy to read ? I'll go through it and remove the spaces .
Why do I do it ? Hmmmm, I don't know , it's just the way I've always typed , I guess . LOL . You can see I'm still doing it even in this short post .

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
It's finally here!!! Thank you sooooo much for everything Daniel!!
It's everything I thought and hoped it would be. It's deep, insightful, open, candid, thoughtful and a great read. A very good job on the transcript!
You really get a feel for how this movie came to the screen, how passionate Rusty is about it and I certainly hope that his passion will show on the screen, can't say anything about that until I see it.
I'll post more thoughts about this interview later. I'm late for work now
Part 2 has to be my favorite part! Nothing can top this!

Anyway, Ryan was like, "Wow I gotta go back to that place you know, I gotta be Matt again," and I was like, I hope he can get right back into character, and he just snapped right back into it, you could see it, you know. It was like he took on that character and became that person. It was a lot of fun watching him take the words that I had written and making them his own. As I said earlier he's just brilliant doing it.
Can't stop smiling I remember something similar being said about Ryan's role in the movie Dangerous Child, he played a character named Jack. The personality of Jack is totally the opposite of who Ryan really is. Jack is a really angry person. Ryan really became Jack.

The minute that Rusty Gorman said that, I thought of you, Ryanne, and I knew that it would be the part that you would enjoy
I think it speaks extremely well of Ryan , that he would immerse himself so deeply in a part that he would actually become the character he is playing for the duration of the shoot .
I remember that being said of River Phoenix as well, so dedicated he was too his craft, to his art , that River would become the very character that he was playing . That led to amazing performances on screen by River , but sadly , it also spilled over to his personal life, because it took him a long time to shake off that character even after shooting ended . One of those characters whom he inhabited finally became the cause of his tragic death , as we all sadly remember.

Really great interview so far danchia!
I like the list of films he remembers very well from when he was young, starting right off with "Jaws" and so many others. But it is rather different today, since it is very rare to have a film at the theatre for more than 3 months, except for stuff like "Titanic" and of course "The Sixth Sense" lasted quite well. Now films are in the theatre, and then 3 months later is the DVD release.
Great list of director's as well... especially with him being a director himself. Of course you can't go wrong with having someone like Stanley Kubrick on your list, or Spielberg.
Lot's of interesting stuff, as he gave some very thoughtful answers, so I am sure the stories he has to tell about the lead actors in HotG should be really great. Can't wait for Part 2... and thanks for making this available for all of us.

Wow... part 2 is really great. You get a real sense of how everyone came together and focused on getting the best from each other and from the script.
What Mr. Gorman had to say about Haley was just... well... it's a common refrain we have heard time and again about Haley. Not just in the last few years or something, but really pretty much since Haley first began in the business. You can go through the years and years of interviews for almost two decades now, and the story is always the same... Haley is the best.
But what I really liked was how the actors were able to explore their characters and could really feel free to be, "comfortable putting it at times in their own words if something on the page didn't sound exactly right to their ear." Kind of like if the words were getting in their way.
That really stood out for me because it reminded me of exactly what Kevin Spacey had to say about Haley way back when they were doing an initial table reading of the "Pay It Forward" script. It speaks so well of the level of Haley's skill, and how this is not anything new for him, as he has been so in tune with his characters, scripts, and scenes perhaps from the very beginning.
Now THIS is a great quote...

Kevin Spacey talking about 11 year old Haley: "...He's very articulate and he is as diligent about trying to get to what's inside a script and what the emotions are. He would say things inside the course of the rehearsal that would completely floor me. We were sitting there one day going through a couple of scenes and Haley was furrowing his brow every time he said a line of dialogue. I clocked this because I was right across from him. Finally, he closed his script and said to Mimi, "Can I just say whatever I think the essence of what the words are? Because somehow, I don't know why, but the way that these words are put together are getting in my way." I said to myself that I'm 41 years old and I didn't even know that words could get in my way until I was about 25. How does he know that? But that's him. That's not anybody prompting him. That's his instinct and his own ability with logic."
Some really great stuff danchia, and I am looking forward to the conclusion.... thanks!
