Haley did not fail the confidence that Kevin Spacey had in him, giving another beautifully sensitive performance in Pay It Forward. Although Pay It Forward turned out to be a lesser film than it could have been, it is Haley's luminous performance that brings something special to the film, proving at that time that his performance in The Sixth Sense was no one-off fluke.
